Pietro Supino

Dr. Pietro . Supino (CH/I/1965) has been Chairman of the Board of Directors since May 2007. He was elected to the Board of Directors in 1991 and assumed the position of Vice Chairman in 2002. He began his professional career as a management consultant with McKinsey & Company, Zurich. He then joined the law firm Bär & Karrer as an attorney, until he became a partner in the Family Office Bank Private Client Partners in Zurich. Today, he also is the Chairman of the Board of Directors of Huber & Co AG, to which the Thurgauer Zeitung belongs. In addition, he is Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors of Espace Media Groupe, member of the Steering Committee of the Swiss Press Association and also serves on a number of other executive and supervisory boards as well as on boards of trustees. Pietro Supino completed his studies of law and economics with a doctorate from the University of St. Gallen. He also holds a Master of Laws/Master of European Law from the London School of Economics and Political Science.

Robert Karrer

Dr. Robert Karrer joined the Board of Directors in 1992 and assumed the position of Vice Chairman in 1993. Robert Karrer has been practicing law since 1965, first as a partner (1969-2001) and now as a counsel of the law firm Bär & Karrer AG in Zurich. In addition, Robert Karrer serves on the Board of Directors of M-real Biberist AG and several other Boards of Directors as well as Boards of Trustees. He graduated from the University of Zurich with a Dr. iur. and, in 1966, he obtained a Masters in Comparative Law from the University of Chicago.

Pierre Lamunière

Date of birth: 22 February 1950

Pierre Lamunière is a member of the Board of Directors since May 2009. After completing his studies in the USA (MBA Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania), Pierre Lamunière joined the Edipresse Group in 1977. He led the company as General Manager as of 1987 and was appointed President and Board of Directors delegate in 1998. Pierre Lamunière was a member of the Board of Directors of Swiss Post from 1997 to 2002. He is the President of Lamunière SA and its subsidiaries. Pierre Lamunière is a member of the board of the Federation of International Press Publishers (FIPP), of which he was president from 2007 to 2009. He has been a member of the Board of Directors of the Waadtländer Kantonalbank (BVC) since 2008.

Konstantin Richter

Date of birth: 21 May 1971

Konstantin Richter is a member of the Board of Directors since 2004. He started his professional career in 1997 as an assistant editor at the media-trade magazine Columbia Journalism Review in New York. In 1998, he worked as an assistant editor at the Cambodia Daily in Phnom Penh. He joined The Wall Street Journal as a staff reporter in Brussels in 1999 and left two years later to write a novel that was published under the title “Betterman” in the fall of 2007. From 2004 to 2005, he was Co-Managing Director of the Rogner & Bernhard publishing company. He currently lives and works in Berlin as an author and journalist and continues to write for the Wall Street Journal Europe on a regular basis. Konstantin Richter has a BA in English literature and philosophy from the University of Edinburgh and a Masters degree from the Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism in New York.

Iwan Rickenbacher

Iwan Rickenbacher

Prof. Dr. Iwan Rickenbacher is a member of the Board of Directors since 1996. Iwan Rickenbacher started his professional career in 1975 as Director of the Teachers' College of Canton Schwyz. From 1988 to 1992, he served as General Secretary of the Christian Democratic People's Party of Switzerland (CVP) in Berne. In 1992, he established his own communications consulting firm. In the year 2000, he was appointed Honorary Professor at the University of Berne. Iwan Rickenbacher is a member of the Board of Directors of Espace Media Groupe and of the Gfs Research Institute of the Swiss Association for Practical Social Research. Furthermore, he is a member of the Board of Directors of Eskamed AG in Basel and Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Lucerne based Swiss School of Journalism (MAZ). After obtaining his teacher’s certificate, Iwan Rickenbacher studied educational sciences and graduated with a doctorate.

Andreas Schulthess

Andreas Schulthess has been a member of the Board of Directors since May 2007. He began his career in 1993 as a part-time working student in the human resources department of Tamedia. After completing his university studies, he was IT business consultant specialized in new technologies and e-Business for Applied International Informatics and Cap Gemini Switzerland Ltd. During that time he carried out a number of international tasks in locations like Vienna, where he built up a new consulting team within one year. After completing his professional training as a coach and subsequent work experience in the field, he returned to human resources operations. He has served as human resources manager for Swiss Life since 2004, now being head of the human resources management in Switzerland. Andreas Schulthess graduated from the University of Zurich in 1999 with a degree in economics. He also completed a postgraduate program with an Executive Master of Human Resources Management at the Institute for Applied Psychology (IAP) in Zurich.

Karl Dietrich Seikel

Date of birth: 17 August 1946

Karl Dietrich Seikel was elected to the Board of Directors in 1996. He started his career as lecturer in Economics and Business Management at the University of Frankfurt/Main. In 1977, he assumed the position of Manager Human Resources and Central Services at WIBAU-Maschinenfabrik Hartmann AG. In 1980, Karl Dietrich Seikel joined Spiegel-Verlag Rudolf Augstein GmbH & Co. KG in Hamburg, initially as Manager of Human Resources. He became a member of the Executive Committee of Spiegel-Verlag in 1985. From 1991 until the end of 2006 he was Chief Executive Officer (with sole power of representation) of Spiegel-Verlag and Spiegel TV GmbH and Chairman of the Corporate Assembly of Manager Magazin Verlagsgesellschaft GmbH and SpiegelNet GmbH. Since 2007 he works as a consultant for the Spiegel group and also holds the position of Chairman of the Board of Directors of the consumer magazines department of VDZ (Association of German Magazine Publishers). Karl Dietrich Seikel completed his studies at the Technical College Darmstadt and the University of Frankfurt/Main with a degree in economics ("Diplom-Volkswirt").

Charles von Graffenried

Date of birth: 19 July 1925

Charles von Graffenried was elected to the Board of Directors in June 2007. He completed his studies as a lawyer and notary in Berne. At his father’s notary office he became an entrepreneur and evolved the financial services, portfolio management, real estate and trust services into the present Berne based Von Graffenried Group (GR). The group, entirely owned by him, consists of four subsidiaries today: the Von Graffenried Private Bank, the GR real estate services, the GR trust office and the Von Graffenried lawyer’s office. Charles von Graffenried continues to work in financial advisory services mainly for private clients and family companies. In addition, he is the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Berne based Espace Media Groupe which he built up from early beginning, as well as publisher of the Berner Zeitung BZ and Der Bund. The Espace Media Groupe has been merged with Tamedia.
