The complete delivery sector of the Tages-Anzeiger AG is integrated into the newly founded Zuvo Zustell- und Vertriebsorganisation AG. The Tages-Anzeiger AG also purchases a majority share of the stock of the Anzeiger von Uster (Eugen Weilenmann AG).
René Bortolani replaces Albert Wirz as editor-in-chief of Das Magazin. Viktor Schlumpf, editor-in-chief of the Tages-Anzeiger, leaves the company. Heinrich Hächler, president of management and delegate of the Board of Directors, leaves the company. Hans Heinrich Coninx, president of the Board of Directors, assumes general responsibility for the group on a temporary basis.
Newspaper production is switched over to the Trias system. Paper, scissors and glue disappear from the editors' desks and typesetting production.
1992
Roger de Weck becomes the editor-in-chief of the Tages-Anzeiger. Michel M. Favre is elected to the new chief executive officer.
1993
The "Tages-Anzeiger für Stadt und Kanton Zürich AG" receives a new name: TA-Media AG. The Tages-Anzeiger celebrates its 100th anniversary on 2 March. The Tamedia and the "Neue Zürcher Zeitung" decide to operate the Zuvo Zustell- und Vertriebsorganisation AG jointly. The Conzett + Huber AG, which belongs to Tamedia, and the Alfred Walter AG, Schlieren, merge to create the Conzett + Walter AG, in which TA-Media maintains a 50% share. TA-Media buys a participatory share in the RTL Fernseh Schweiz AG, which would like to broadcast a Swiss program slot on RTL.
The Tages-Anzeiger founds the advertising combination "Swiss Pool" together with the Berner Zeitung, Basler Zeitung, Luzerner Zeitung, St. Galler Tageblatt, 24 heures and the Tribune de Genève.
Andreas Durisch takes over the position of editor-in-chief of Schweizer Familie from Werner Ehrensperger.
1994
TA-Media acquires a 50% share of Presse Publicité Rep. SA, which previously belonged solely to the HandelsZeitung Publishing Company. Thereafter, it canvasses for advertising in western Switzerland for both companies. TA-Media also decides to join World Media, the international association of leading independent daily newspapers . The company also purchases one-third of the stock of TeleZüri, the private regional television station in Zurich, and withdraws from RTL Fernseh Schweiz AG after the Federal Council rejects the application for a license for a Swiss program slot on RTL.
In cooperation with IDG, International Data Group, Boston, the Tages-Anzeiger launches PCtip. The supplement appears in June for the first time. The journalistic contributions of the Tages-Anzeiger are increased again with the expansion from five to six sections.
1995
TA-Media purchases the Zurich based monthly magazine Bonus, of which the Tages-Anzeiger had a minority share for the previous six years. The Bremgartner Bezirks-Anzeiger is sold to the Kasimir Meyer AG in Wohlen, which publishes the Wohler Anzeiger. Both newspapers are published thereafter as essentially identical newspapers with only different names and local sections. TA-Media also reduces its majority share of Radiotele AG from 90% to a qualified minority share of 35%. Radiotele AG arrangesfor advertising in local radio stations, private television programs and in teletext. TA-Media invests a total of 30 million Swiss francs in modernizing computers in the commercial area between 1995 and 1997. Technology in the graphic sector is making enormous progress, and the business conditions are difficult. Against this background, a two-year work time model begins in the preprinting sector of the printing center beginning on 1 January. The employees reduce their work time by 10% and thereby save 25 jobs. A new shift model is introduced in newspaper printing.
The Swiss news magazine Facts is published for the first time on 6 April, with which TA-Media closes the last big gap in the Swiss range of publications. Kurt W. Zimmermann becomes the managing director of Facts and gives the job of editor-in-chief of the SonntagsZeitung to Ueli Haldimann. Jürg Wildberger becomes editor-in-chief of Facts. Ernst, the newspaper for young adults, also appears for the first time in the spring. It is inserted in the Tages-Anzeiger on Wednesdays. The SonntagsZeitung expands its journalistic content from six to eight sections.
