History 2012

Lokalinfo AG acquires the Kilchberger from Zürcher Regionalzeitungen AG as of 1 January. Fröhlich Info AG, based in Zollikon and operating businesses in IT, design, printing and editing, acquires the Zollikor Bote from Zürcher Regionalzeitungen AG as of 1 January as well.

The SonntagsZeitung and Le Matin Dimanche reinforce their resources in investigative journalism. They announce on 12 January that they are about to establish a national investigation desk in Berne. Eight to ten journalists from both the German and French speaking parts of Switzerland will work together, investigating across the language border stories with a national perspective. To further encourage investigative journalism in Switzerland, the SonntagsZeitung is establishing, in co-operation with the MAZ Media Training Centre in Lucerne, a new journalism award. One talented young journalist per year will be given the opportunity to learn and practice the art of investigative journalism at the new national investigation desk of the SonntagsZeitung and Le Matin Dimanche in Berne. A similar award will be established by Le Matin Dimanche in the French speaking part of Switzerland.

The Finanz and Wirtschaft is published in a new two bundles concept as of 14 January. The traditional fixed separation between Swiss and foreign topics within the corporate reports sections is given up. Due to changing market needs and to further meet the readership expectations for more ongoing up-to-date information, the Finanz und Wirtschaft will launch a completely revised and redesigned online platform within the next weeks. The platform will feature extensive news coverage, being available online as well as on mobile devices and tablet computers. In view of these changes, the Finanz and Wirtschaft restructured its editorial team and enlarges it up to 50 journalists working for both the print edition as well as the online and mobile platforms.
